getting personal | meeting you through your orders

When I began my business, it was mostly through face-to-face interactions at art festivals. I met people who would buy my jewelry or place an order. But I was meeting my customers, learning who they are, and building relationships.

As more shopping is moving online (I’m no exception, since I have stopped participating in in-person events since having children) - it feels very transactional as the shopper. I try to infuse as much interaction and personality as I can into our touch points - from packaging to emails to making sure your jewelry fits.

But on the other side, from my perspective - I celebrate every purchase, I read every message, and I feel like I am getting to know you. I know, on the surface it sounds kind of creepy - I promise I’m not stalking you. But through your jewelry, I get to know you.

Making custom message jewelry is so personal. I am being trusted to build something that you will wear to remember, memorialize, celebrate, or give to a special person in your life. As I press (I’m actually hammering, but pressing sounds nicer) each letter into the metal to form a message that is meaningful to you, I try to be very intentional and focused, adding the love of my craft to your piece as well.

Not only am I imbuing each piece with my care and love, but I am also getting to know you. After an order is placed, and I make the jewelry, I am introduced to you. The design you choose, the metal you select, any finish added to the piece, and not to mention the message - gives me a glimpse of you.

As your collection grows, I recognize your name, and I begin to go on a journey of getting to know you through your jewelry. Sometimes people will email me to tell me their stories, or I’ll see a review on my website, but for others it’s from afar. Seeing what you order next - more rings, a new pair of studs, etc., and especially as you order more messages, I feel like I can grasp a bit of who you are.

And sometimes I don’t hear from a customer for a while, and I want to reach out. Not because I want to make another sale - but to know how they are doing. To know they got through their divorce and are happier on the other side, or their son’s wedding was a smashing success and now they’re about to be a grandma for the first time.

The stories your jewelry tells gives me a glimpse into your life - I celebrate with you, I mourn with you, I fight along with you. I love learning about the lives my jewelry impacts and I welcome you to share your story - either emailing me directly or submitting your story.

your story inspires me
