Life Update with Emily
It's been a little bit since you have seen our faces --- and we love sharing what goes on behind the scenes and who the creative minds are that run Christina Kober Designs. I first introduced Emily, in our team spotlight series. Now let's circle back around and see what life & work has been like for her since.
Life has changed a lot during the COVID-19 stay at home order - what surprised you that you have enjoyed most during it?
I think I’ve come to appreciate the outdoors much more. I really really look forward to strolls or really long walks before and after work. I also appreciate my porch even more than ever before. I spend as much time as I can outside.
Your role at CKD has changed recently. Tell us about your role:
I am the marketing coordinator where I am responsible for managing the content that you see on our social platforms. I also take the majority of the photos you see on the Christina Kober website and Instagram. I recently have taken on our blog posts & emails that we send out 1-2 times a week. Christina & I work closely together on our advertising and weekly marketing plans which I enjoy because we can bounce ideas off of one another.
Favorite recipe
My favorite recipe is the sweet & sour crispy tofu with white rice by Hot for Food food blog. I’m obsessed with it.
Describe your style
In a nutshell, Free People. I worked at Anthropologie for years so my wardrobe consists of A LOT of Anthro and Free People. Love anything flowy and oversized. High waisted pants & jeans. A minimum of 5 pieces of jewelry on at all times. I love pairing a statement piece (kimono, shoes, jumpsuit) with classic staples pieces.
favorite WFH outfit
My new girlfriend collective leggings, an oversized tee, and a hat. But after a few days of wearing my "WFH uniform", I like to put myself together with actual pants and a little bit of makeup.
beauty product you can't live without
It's very simple but I cannot live without it...chapstick. My two favorites are glossier's balm dotcom & the mini vaseline that are just for lips. I have tried a lot of chapstick, and these two are my favorites because they are long lasting (even post meal) and actually moisturizes my lips.
favorite CKD product right now?
The new cable chain ring! It’s so comfortable I can barely feel it but still secure enough to stay on my finger where I don’t have to worry about it falling off. It’s so interesting & unique yet simple enough to wear everyday. I can’t rave enough about it.
Is there a quote or person who has given you inspiration through your life?
Rupi Kaur is one of my favorite poets. She is a huge inspiration to me because of her vulnerability and her ability to speak to and understand me as a woman. One of my favorite lines from The Sun and Her Flowers is: "this is the recipe of life said my mother as she held me in her arms as I wept -- think of those flowers you plant in the garden each year -- they will teach you that people too must wilt, fall, root, rise in order to bloom."
