I have been wanting to show more behind the scenes of Christina Kober Designs and I thought the best way would be to first introduce you to our team. The CKD team is amazing. We are close-knit group that sometimes feels more like a family than a business - a great mix of dynamic, dedicated and talented women, that bring different backgrounds and experiences to build a very strong team.
In our Team Spotlight series, I will be introducing you to our team one at a time. I am so excited to share who we are, the team that brings Christina Kober Designs to life. We are the people who handstamp, solder and polish your jewelry, the ones that answer your questions, and the ones that package up your orders with love. My hope is that you will see more of what makes us who we are, what drives us, and connect to our stories of what inspires us.
The second of our “Team Spotlight” series is Meghan. She is our Wholesale Manager, working with the stores that carry our jewelry. As wholesale manager, Meghan also travels with me to wholesale trade shows. She always makes it a fun trip; keeping me laughing, making sure we have all the best snacks, and keeping me going on the long days with her positive attitude. She is the person all dog memes are written about, is one of the hardest working people I know, and is a new mom to a beautiful baby boy.
I’d like you to meet, Meghan!
What do you do at Christina Kober Designs?
I am the Wholesale Manager so I work directly with the boutiques around the country that carry Christina Kober Designs.
What does your typical day at CKD look like?
It always starts with lots of coffee! The first thing I do is sort through my inbox and make a to-do list which involves a lot of entering orders, creating invoices, and emailing our current retailers. A lot of my job is maintaining the relationships with our retailers so just communicating with them on a daily basis, sending information on new items, giving suggestions for new orders, and answering questions.
What is something you think most people don’t know about handmade jewelry?
How much time and care goes into every piece that leaves the studio and that there is an actual person creating a beautiful piece of jewelry with their hands. Nothing is mass-produced so no 2 pieces are exactly alike.
What inspires you?
People who are not afraid to be themselves and people who are genuinely concerned with the well-being of those around them.
What does a “treat yourself” day look like to you?
It would definitely involve sleeping in! Then I would probably go get a manicure, hair, and eyebrows done. I would go to lunch on a patio with fun cocktails and would also take my dogs to the dog park because I am a crazy dog mom. The day would end with a long shower while someone else made dinner to enjoy on our back deck with a large glass of red wine.
What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
I am obsessed with using Vaseline as chapstick, so for Christmas this past year I got an entire box of Vaseline-one for every bag, car, and room in our house. It was such a silly gift but one of the most thoughtful gifts because I use them every single day and am always looking for it!
What is something you are well known for around the studio?
An array of facial expressions...and my love of Domino’s and dog memes.
You’re a new mom. What’s the funniest quirk that your son Callen has?
He loves looking at himself in the mirror! He tries not to smile at himself but always ends up with the biggest smile- he thinks it’s the greatest thing ever and can entertain himself for a while!
What’s the best thing about being a mom?
Just seeing how much he changes everyday! It is crazy seeing how curious he is and how he processes every new experience.
What is your favorite CKD piece and why?
My go-to, everyday earrings are the Large Rose Gold Diamond Dusted Studs but the Diamond Dusted Arc Necklace is my favorite because it’s such a cool and versatile piece. I have never seen anything like it anywhere else.
Ok, now time for a little quick fire….
