THE PRACTICE | living proof
Do you ever have those moments when something that’s been on your mind suddenly starts showing up everywhere?
You hear it in a song lyric. You scroll past an Instagram post that feels almost too perfectly timed. Or someone brings that exact topic in conversation.
I find that happens when I choose a word. It begins showing up in my life at random times, usually when I’m not looking for it.
It makes me wonder if my brain is simply paying closer attention because my word is now more than just a word to me, because it means more to me now. Kind of like when your ears perk up because you think you hear your name. Or maybe there is something a little more mysterious happening. I’m not really sure.
What matters is that those moments remind me that this word didn’t come out of nowhere.

This time, I decided to keep a collection of these little kismet moments. I call it my Living Proof.
This small list is so powerful on harder days; I can look back at it and be reminded that I’m right where I need to be.
But there is another kind of proof I’ve started collecting, too: the small changes that show me my word is beginning to shape how I live.
I catch myself making a choice differently than I would have a few months ago. A boundary comes a little more naturally. I keep a promise to myself. Nothing dramatic, but enough to make me stop and think, "oh, that was unexpected."
Together, these moments feel like proof that my word has made its way into my life almost without me realizing it.
There is a little science behind why this matters, too. We tend to focus on the negative- failures, where we slipped, or how far we still have to go- hoping that disappointment and frustration will push us forward. And it does at first, but eventually that kind of motivation loses its fire.
But tracking small wins keeps working. You begin to collect evidence that you can keep a promise to yourself, respond differently, or make a choice that feels more aligned with your word. That evidence builds confidence, and confidence makes it easier to keep going.
One small choice becomes proof that another one is possible.
That is what I like about keeping Living Proof of my word. It isn’t a scorecard or a way to measure how well I’m doing with my word. It is a place to notice what I might otherwise miss: the small shifts that show me I’m living it, alongside the strange little coincidences that make me feel like this was the right word to choose in the first place.
Both kinds of proof make me want to keep going.
The Circle is a five-month guided experience for those who have chosen a word and want support actually living with it. Through weekly emails, practical tools, and monthly small-group conversations, it helps you stay connected to your word, work through the friction, and return to it when life gets loud.
The Circle will open in September. Until then, I am going to share some of the practices inside it so you can see what it is all about.

Back-to-school is kicking my ass right now. Between getting the kids to school, doctor appointments, after-school activities, moving my studio, and teaching jewelry classes that just started, I feel like I’m moving from one thing straight into the next. So lately, I am deeply appreciative of anything that helps me sleep: a cold room, my favorite pajamas, white noise, CBD, and magnesium. Nothing groundbreaking. Just the little things that help my body understand that the day is finally over. |

When I first designed the Narrow Ring, I called it the inspiRING.
I don’t use that name anymore because it required way too much explaining, but the idea behind it has never changed. It was always meant to hold a word that means something to you. Something you can look down at during the day and remember why you chose it.
I think that’s part of why it has remained one of my best sellers. The ring itself is simple, but what it holds is different for every person wearing it.
A reminder. A promise. A name. A word you’re trying to live by.
Sometimes your word finds you. Sometimes you wear it where you can find it.
Although back-to-school has been a lot, I’m trying not to let the rush swallow everything.
I’m letting myself notice the little moments, too. The sunrise while the kids eat their breakfast. A good song at the right time. A small joy. A strange coincidence. A glimmer that catches your attention.
None of them are big enough to change the day on their own, but together they make the day feel different.
Together, all the tiny moments make a big life.
